80s Movies : Movie of the Week

This cheeseball adventure/romantic comedy from 1988 may not have become a recognized classic but it’s still a fun flashback to the lighthearted side of the eighties with good vibes all around. Cyndi Lauper and Jeff Goldblum play two psychics hired by Peter Falk to find his long lost son in a foreign country. When they get there they discover he’s really hired them to help find a hidden temple in the mountains where all the psychic energy in the world comes from.
Steve Buscemi makes an appearance in his typically genius smarmy way.

You don’t have to be as rad as this guy to appreciate this BMX racing team shirt from the 1986 movie Rad. This is Jose Yanez who invented the bmx backflip as he showed off while doing stunts for the star, hometown favorite Cru Jones, in the raddest bmx movie of the 80s.

Back in the 80s we didn’t have ritalin and prozac, we had gasoline and matches. I think Christian Slater’s character J.D. from Heathers (1989) would enjoy this Burn Your School T-Shirt, a great gift for your favorite neighborhood psycho kid.

J.D.: People will look at the ashes of Westerburg and say, “Now there’s a school that self-destructed, not because society didn’t care, but because the school was society.” Now that’s deep.

Ferris Beuler’s Day Off (1986) featuring Matthew Broderick skipping school with a couple of his close friends was one many classic John Hughes 80s comedies. The Save Ferris shirt appeared in the film as his classmates rallied to support Ferris after news about his (faked) illness spread throughout the school, much the chagrin of his cynical sister and bumbling principal.
